Going to Miami!

Flying over the east coast is great when it's clear weather.

Because I've lived on the east coast my whole life, i can identify a lot of landmarks, but a lot of them are in new jersey I guess.

Like on the way down I spotted Philadelphia, which meant that is I just glanced up the Delaware a little, I was basically looking at my mom's house in New Hope. And I also saw Hilton Head, which is where my dad likes to vacation ins the summer.

Maybe that's it? I also couldn't pick out which city was Atlanta. I've never really been there. But on the way back I saw Atlantic City, Great Adventure, Long Beach Island, and all of Brooklyn including pretty much where my house is.

In case you couldn't tell, I am scared to fly, and so I try to look out the window as much as possible because it's very distracting.

This picture is for Carlos.

I got down there and hopped on a shuttle and went straight to South Beach to meet up with Leslie and Suzy. They took me to the Delano for lunch where we saw not only Russell Simmons but sat directly next to the table where Dennis Hopper was sitting. I had some serious ADD moments at that lunch.

South Beach is many hotels.

I was trying to go and buy a pair of shoes and I ran into Peter! So wierd. Peter had been down there for quite some time already. He had sort of had it.

I really didn't take that many photos while i was in Miami. It was hard, there was so much stuff going on. I kept forgetting. But I did get a photo of Pat at NADA.

And then no more NADA pics. Don't know why. Just no more. But hre is Richard Colman's Huge painting that was at the Juxtapoz sponsored "We'll Make A Lover Of You", curated by Francesco LoCastro.

R. Colman.

Me getting pics of people getting pics with Rich. (Cross Reference here.)

Then after some stuff happened Suzy and I escaped to a quiet get-together that was taking place in the back of the Raleigh Hotel. Eddie came and got us at the front and we just went back and back and back, until we got to a bonfire.

The burying of feet.

People kept sitting on the rim of the firepit and almost catching on fire.

Alex was there!

And then a lot more stuff happened that I got NO pictures of at all. Sorry. I basically drank a lot and then went swimming in the ocean and my clothes almost blew away and it was amazing. THe water was really warm. Is this private stuff? I don't know. Anyway, this place had amazing Tofu sandwiches. I highly reccomend it.

So beautiful.

Then I went and picked up my pass at Basel and scoped out some stuff.

T.D. Hancock. You need to check out his book that Picturebox put out, it's seriously off the wall.

Carol Bove, who I note has many copies of the same books... When I installed one of her pieces once I got really distracted by wanting to read everything, epecially this book on modern dance. It was amazing. Again, TMI? who knows.

Actually enjoy this piece of Rachel Feinstein's.

Tobias Buche.

Can't remember.

Best booth.

Petzel.

I didn't stay long enough at basel to see it all. I stopped by the DAT booth and said his and walked around NOVa. But then I had to go. it was fine. I wished I'd gone to see the containers though. That's one thing I'm sad I missed.

But Joey had a piece in the Bridge with McCaig Welles, so I went to meet him there and check it out.

On the way...

Bridge had a lot of stuff, it was a little close in there. But there was still a lot to see.

Like this Roy de Forest drawing that I love.

And these Johan Fischer drawings which were great.

And a bunch of Daniel Johsnton drawings.

And Joey's work looked awesome too. We ran into Suzy and Avi while there.

Jovi Schnell, always great.

Asd Eddie Martinez. This was at Allston Skirt at Aqua. Oh yeah, i was at Aqua a bunch too. Leslie was helping at Motel Gallery and Emily was there with Elizabeth Leech. And it was just so awwesome to hang out there.

So nice and open.

Later that night I went with Joey and Pres to the adidas store to see Ricky Powell give one of his slideshows.

Joey owns the coolest shirt ever.

Rickster.

And then on to the Sagamore for more partying at the NADA event.

Slow Jams BLAZIN'.

I mean RAVIN'.

Jesse, Leslie, and Tracy. Good, good ladies. And that guy whose name I forget but he's great too!

Blanko and Noiry.

Frank Haines and Chris Kachulis.

It was mind-blowing.

And then I saw Carla for the first time all weekend!!! Lovely Lady!

And Kristina! Hott.

Then we were at the aprty, it was cold, we went to eat sandwiches, we went to a bar, we danced a little, then went to sleep. I crashed with Emily at Aqua. She is so gracious.

It was time to go.

And then it was Sunday morning already, and I had to go to the airport, and fly back up the East coast and see all the things I told you about earlier, and come home to the cold weather and come home to the come-down...

But the morning was unforgettably lovely...
